T42 - Tea for Two - is an instructive tea brewing system that operates on the traditional two pot system. In my work with TeaGschwendner I had to explain that system many times to our customers and they were often times still confused about how it works, thinking it was too complex.
T42 solves that problem by encoding the use instructions into the product itself. Through specially designed grooves within the pot, lid and filter the product makes clear what you can and shall put on each pot: For instance, the filter will only fit on the serving pot because I do not want you to use it on the brewing pot - the tea is meant to float loosely in the water and then be filtered into the serving pot. By design the filter will then also no longer float in the liquid, stopping the infusion process as soon as you decide to serve the tea.
The brewing pot comes with another handy and stylish design feature: The matte glass strip is encoding the fill volume for half a liter at the bottom and one liter at the top. This way you never have to measure out the amount of water in your water kettle to brew the optimal amounts of tea. All handles are designed in an ergonomic way, making swirling and mixing easy.
The 3D model has been designed and rendered in Autodesk Fusion 360. Model prints have been executed in the Red Saloon at Hochschule für Gestaltung Offenbach am Main with the support of Anja Bernhardt, Andreas Klober and Reinhard Bauer. The project has been supervised by Prof. Dr. Markus Holzbach from the IMD Department and Valentin Brück.

T42 was my pre-diploma project and is one of my favorite product designs I created so far. It has not yet been produced but I'd love to partner up with someone who wants to make this a physical product instead of just an idea.
